Technique:wood inlaid with tortoiseshell and gilded bronze
This commode was designed for a bedroom. The Boulle-style inlay in the Versaille manner is of Luois XIV style, en première partie. The top has rounded corners. This too is inlaid with tortoiseshell; the gilded bronze inlay depicts the Triumph of Venus and Love framed in arabesques reminiscent of Jean Berain’s designs (Saint Mihiel 1640-Paris 1711).
