This pair of porcelain high-reliefs is one of the most successful sculptural productions by Massimiliano Soldani Benzi (1656-1740), one of the greatest exponents of the Florentine baroque. These works are based on a series of terracotta panels depicting The Four Seasons, now part of Palazzo Pitti’s Tesoro dei Granduchi collection. The four wax molds, still kept at the Museo delle Porcellane in Doccia, Sesto Fiorentino, were molded on these models and used by the Manufacture to produce the plaques.
